Being a capoeirista..and how its changed my life..

Since 2008 I’ve been playing capoeira.
It is. The hardest motherfucking hobby i’ve ever done in my life.
No joke, not even playing a cello solo in a muito grande concert hall was as hard as this. ( the cello has no buttons. Its you, some wood and four strings. Good luck.)
Training. I go 3-4 days a week, kicking, dodging and singing…always hoping to land some ridiculous cirque-du-soleil like feat..usually with repeated failure.

Aesthetics. My once beautiful feet look like that of Gollum from Lord of the Rings and my shiny new engagement ring is bent into an egg-like shape from repeated queda-de-rins and slamming to the floor to avoid being swatted to the ground by my superiors.

Leisure time. My vacations have now become quests for the closest capoeira center where in most cases, i will end up missing social dinners as the majority of scheduled class times are during prime evening supper (and thus, socializing) hours.
Meals. A calculated amount of good clean food must be consumed at least 2.5-3 hours prior to cap time.

Because:
A) I need food for energy..healthy food. Bad fuel will make me feel slow and sluggish. Not to mention a dip in energy level.

B) Eating anywhere too close to gametime can result in: major flatulence, and/or nausea during training. No one wants to smell your wind or see your morning pancakes in the middle of an armada.

C) Eating too early means a dead battery in the middle/end of class. Energy is especially importante during roda time. Would you enjoy sexy time without lube? I think not.

Odd eating habits like this also means missing brunch, as brunch is normally defined as: consuming the largest amount of unhealthy food for a minimum of 2 hours while chatting it up with compadres. Hasta la vista social life. (if they are however, willing to adhere to your strict requirements of size, timing and type of brunch…it can still happen. I define these people as True Friends. LOL)

In addition to food, i’ve learned to gulp water in an attractive camel-like fashion that would deem me the winner of any international beer chugging contest.
Happy hour on class days. What happy hour? Don’t you mean capoeira hour?

Finances. When budgeting for the month the order is as follows:
Food, Capoeira, Rent, Metro card, Clothing & accessories, Utilities, Toilet paper.

Hygiene. The smell. Oh lord the smell. Piles of sweat-riddled gear is always all over the house. Its like living in the mens locker room of a gym. In our house we boil spaghetti, eggs, tea, and..clothes. Lucky for moi, i have a grade A fiancé who loves to do laundry and i love to watch him do laundry. Laundry is a weekly activity for us..a change from my once a month trip to the basement in search of dryer sheets.

Television. Who needs TV when you can analyze hours upon hours of taped capoeira footage and YouTube clips off the internet?

Music skills. Thanks to what seems to be fate, I am back at playing with a metal string (arame) and a piece of wood, AKA, the Berimbau. Its such a simple instrument, yet it is surprisingly difficult. B/c of the berimbau, i now have an extra strong (and numb) pinky finger and incredible rock hunting abilities.

Games. Roda time means multiple 30 second performances featuring you and one other person in front of the entire class. This is where you demonstrate your mad skills. No pressure or anything.

As bad as I make it sound, I really love it. It’s refreshing and challenging. Learning all the time and being out of my element makes me surprisingly happy. Better than PIE on some days. And i fucking LOVE PIE. xoxoxooxo

Capoeira is awesome. Even if i am embarassed on a regular basis.

Run with flavah

Not only do I have great taste, but I'm a jock as well.  Of my many many many many many (too much?) talents, running, along with polishing off giant bags of craisins, can be checked off as one of my greatest passions in life.
As an avid runner, I've been in a countless number of races and every one of them is filled to capacity ranging from hundreds to thousands of runners per race.......with ever'body trying to be like me, the growing popularity of running is undeniable.
But One thing is certain, when you are running in a pack of thousands of people, you want to exude your own personal style....let yo' freak fly high guuurlfriend!

Adidas Climacool Ride shoes. These are mens, b/c I LOVE this color combo.
Checked em' out in store, they are very light at 7.2 ounces (womens) and the Climacool shell allows for maximum breathability...minimizing foot stink and toe cheese buildup...winner!

Gel Noosa Tri 6 by Asics.  Mens & Womens.  Kinda resembles a bucket of paint that fell of the back of a Sherman Williams truck and landed on some unsuspecting runner. I LOVE THE COLORS...OH THE COLORSSSS
I am the proud owner of this lil number.  Weighing in at 8.6 ounces for the womens sneaker, it is basically a stripped down version on the Asics Gel-Kayano, meaning less cushioning...but really if you aren't a hell striker...who needs all those boob implants anyway?  Time to go au-naturale!

Mizuno Wave Precision 11 8.5 ounces for women, 10 ounces for men.  Its a nice lightweight trainer for folks with normal pronation.
And with a cute little mesh upper...this looks to be another toe cheese fighter.  YES.

New Balance 890 Running Shoe.  7.7 ounces womens, 9.7 ounces mens.  This sexy little lightweight trainer is bound to get some e-props from more than a few race spectators.
Nike Free TR Fit.  Womens and Mens. Comes in a smattering of colors..if you feel like re-living your highschool and/or college years, Nike is bound to have your team colors.
I can't even give you the weight as it probably weighs 0 ounces.  This is what it feels like to run naked! (seriously, about 7.2oz)  The flexible bottoms and lightweight mesh and synthetic leather upper gives us the freedom of mobility to skip merrily through the city singing the sound of music.
Nike Free Run+2. Also weighing in at 7.2oz, I think this Nike is exactly like the TR Fit, the only real difference between the two is that this one is PERTIER and it comes Nike+ ready if your down with the technology.
Built for Hermes.  That synthetic net-like overlay is beeyootiful!
---------------
For indoor season and shorter distances like the 5k-10k races, you can rock these beauties on your hooves.
Meant to be lighter and built with minimal material, these are great racing sneakers when you are looking to PR & LOOK SWAGALICIOUS.
RACING SPIKES ARE SO BEAUTIFUL OMG IM GOING TO DIEEEE....*ahem* here are my faves:
Adidas 3:51.1 Men's Spike Splash
Nike Zoom Matumbo Spikes Blue/Orange.

Nike Zoom W 3 Women's Spikes Blk/Wht/Blue

Brooks PR MD Women's Spikes Gemma/Silver/Black/White

Sneaker made of MEAT

Voila. The Air-Meat (Mett).

In celebration of Sneaker Freaker Germany's 2nd issue release, they decided to have a fiesta at The Goodwill Out sneaker boutique...with MEAT. Lots of MEAT. Cheese, olives, peppers, carrots, tomatoes, onions and parsley help to complete the affect.
Replicated after the Nike Air MAX 90, its almost too pretty to eat.  Although saved as a collectible...it may rot, smell, and eventually drive you and all your neighbors out.
...its chow time bitches!!

Lady Gaga "We Pray for Japan" Bracelet

My Lady Gaga "We Pray for Japan" bracelet arrived yesterday...Not one for modesty, Gaga's bracelet is HUGE.  It is double the size of the "Livestrong" bracelet sizes we are used to.
It really puts the message out there. "We Pray for Japan" is written in both English and Japanese with Gaga's signature clawed hand.

PRAY FOR JAPAN. (BITCHES)

Shamballin'! (Bracelets)

As promised, here is the blingity-bling that caught my eye at NYC's SneakerCon.

The fi (fiance) and I have one and is also seen on the likes of Jay-Z, Kanye West, and very pimpin ladies as well.

Studies have shown instant pimp status when donning this.
Think of it as a clever disguise when wanting to put your conservative image away for the weekend and reveal your inner pimp.
...not unlike Superman's need for thick black goggles. It effectively renders him as the meek & mild Clark Kent.  How else would Superman get his grocery shopping done?

The disco-like balls are made of Cubic Zirconia set in sterling silver.  Set in a pave style setting for $150

We also sell cheaper option made of Swarovski crystal for $50.

The prices are not fixed, as they can be custom made to fit your wildest desires. Message me at teenyiballz@yahoo.com if you are interested in unleashing your inner pee eye em pee.

[that rosary bracelet next to Shammie there was also made by my fi...they are still in design phase, but will soon be made to order.]

Getchur bling on bitches!! :)

Louis Vuitton...Sneakers

Hole(y) LV batman!  The new Louis Vuitton perforated leather sneaker is here.
For just little over the price of an ipad2, these beauties can't really check your email, but they look hella delicious.
Behold. The Acapulco in mini Damier tie fabric. Comes in dos colors. A friendly gray and black for your emo alter ego.

The Acapulco in hole(y) perforated leather.  My faves are the blue and orange pair, it really creates a nice contrast with the white piping.
Coincidentally, those two are also harder to come by, especially in the states. They go for ~550 euros per pair in Europe, which translates to about one thousand US rupees for us.
US retail is $645 per pair.  And the smallest size they have (in mens) is a 6.5, so for the ladies that are a size 9-9.5, go grab yourself a pair!  Buy them online, or in select locations:
