a valentines day story.

AcK! I am terrible with this thing.

I have every intention to blog more often but my A.D.D. gets the best of me and pulls me off to some "oooh-pretty colors...!"-type distraction.

This being the month O' Love, I want to share with you this years Valentin
es experience.

This Vee-Day I do have a boyfriend...thus, I like Valentine's day! And as a result of my nearly empty pockets (mostly b/c of numerous snowboarding trips taken this year) I agreed with He
n that we not do the V-day gift exchange and instead spend it together like we do every Saturday:

wake up late --> watch youtube --> eat --> walk the dog (maybe) --> play capoeira --> eat a V-day dinner at White Castle (the only difference on this very special day) --> party like its our birthday.

However being a girl, I didn't actually mean what I said....and bought him something anyway. He decided he'd order my gift post-vday.

Hen had work til 2PM on V-day. So I stayed in and did some baking.

He came home, sans the obligatory valentines day flower(s). Which was fine...I'm not much of a flower person anyway. I like my vegetables on my plate.

But being the typical male, procrastinated and failed to make any sort of dinner reservations. (We really wanted to go to White Castle. Don't laugh...they have the most outrageous setup
of a tablecloth, waiter service, crystal goblets, and a stereo spinning Norah Jones and Barry White. It is seriously good times.)

However ridiculous, White Castle calls for some serious RSVP-ing come
February 14th...(so for all you fellow gimmick hunters out there....plan to reserve your seat early in January...that's right...JANUARY!)

After realizing we would be missing out on the fast-dining action, I became pretty upset...which began our hunt in the night for a romantic dinner location.
In retrospect, the whole ordeal turned out to be pretty hilarious. Everything that could go wrong, did...including an effort to meet up with our friends to deliver a pair of shoes.

I will just say it involves x'ing the same bridge at the same time. In opposite directions.

But we did end up going dancing that night, and it was a blast.
Henry made up for it by getting me a melee' of Hanukkah-like gifts, each one ranging from small, to big...getting better and better with each one.

Item 1:
Holographic Candlelit Dinner Kit

Put these glasses on, and all you see are hearts. (<3)

Item 2: A thumb holder for while I read books on the train. (I keep this little jem in my purse at all times.)

Item 3: 2 sets of Japanese Shoelaces. (No picture yet since I haven't ha
d a chance to lace these beauties on yet, but one set makes for a great way to keep my yoga mat nice and rolled up tight!)

Item 4: Sexy Eyes Pillow cases (for my new full sized bed!...where all the magic happens.)

and Item 5: Sky Umbrella
(i LOVE this thing!...I never thought I'd say this, but make it rain God please!!!...because despite your bitter gray-skied wrath, I shall happily be forever under eternal sunny skies. Nyeh nyeh nyeh. Chew on that big guy.)

So that includes my inventory dish. And not only that, but we embarked on a mini vacay to Philly (aka Filadelfia...as Hen likes to spell it). WIth plans to wine and dine ourselves at one of Philly's finest restaurant establishments...The quest for the ever-poop-ular Philly Cheesesteak.

In the duel of Pat's vs. Geno's, we voted Geno's. Why? Geno's has a more tender meat cut, whereas Pat's meat is....meatier...but a bit too chewy for our taste. That's right folks...I ate meat. Guilty as charged. Can I live???
[i promise to follow up with pictures once they're uploaded.]

We also:
- ran up the famous Rocky steps at the Philly museum.
- found a super radical/liberalist bookstore complete with tons of gay-rights material
- discovered the sequel to 7-Eleven.....an 8-Twelve convenience store.
- purchased two posters and a garbage can with a cool graphic design
- witnessed protestors picketing against gun violence in front of a gun shop...in a nearly empty neighborhood. "Honk if you're against it!!"...we didn't really honk. =X
- found Philly weather to be just as cold as New York.
- received the keys to a Quiznos bathroom
- found an ever-trendy frozen yogurt shop: Phileo (which seems to be a branch of New York's "16 Handles")

Thus concludes another successful weekend with Henricus. Happy Vday Beanie.

BTW, at this very moment I have tissues shoved up each one of my nostrils due to a cold. Apparently another gift from my Valentine. :)

Hope all you lovebirds and singlets had a pleasant Valentine's/Hater's Day!!
